Lorraine Closs
Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist
With over 30 years of experience as a social worker and psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and groups, I can offer a highly experienced and compassionate approach to help you navigate life’s challenges. I have been helping people recover from the impact of trauma for most of my career. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities to co-create with you a treatment plan that best suits your needs. My goal is to empower you with the tools and insights you need to create lasting healing and growth.
I completed a Bachelor of Social Work degree from McMaster University in 1989 and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto in 1992. Since that time I have worked in direct service and leadership roles in settings such as the Children’s Aid Society, community mental health agencies, family health teams and children’s mental health agencies. The last 12 years of my career has been spent in psychotherapy practice and also contributing to the field by teaching Social Service Workers at Durham College.
Born and raised in the Durham Region, I have two grown children, love animals of all kinds, and enjoy my new found hobby of quilting when I am not exploring the world.
