Dr. Krystle Martin

CLINIC DIRECTOR AND PSYCHOLOGIST

I have expertise in helping people who have experienced trauma, emotion dysregulation, or are suicidal. Many of my clients work within a first responder occupation such as police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and correctional staff. I am also very interested in sleep issues and trained to provide CBT for Insomnia (CBTi).
I earned my PhD at the University of Toronto and am licensed with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. I am a member of the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA), a founding member of the Ontario Psychologists for Racial Justice (OPRJ) collective, and part of Ontario communities of practice that focus on Trauma in First Responders. I am an Adjunct Professor at Ontario Tech University and York University where I supervise graduate students and teach courses.
With regard to my consulting work, I currently partner with Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) to support their mental health initiatives, as well as provide training and education. I also provide clinical consultation to staff members who provide trauma therapy at Gateway Recovery Centre, Atlantic Centre for Trauma, and Bellwood Health Services, all of which are part of Edgewood Health Network.
On a personal level, I am an avid reader, love to travel and explore new places, and find it therapeutic to do hot yoga. I also really like chocolate, coffee, heated seats, and podcasts. Oh, and crossword puzzles, peanut butter, and dancing.
