REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPIST

I’m a registered psychotherapist with over 23 years of experience working in the addiction and mental health field. I completed my MA in Criminology at the University of Toronto with a collaborative program in addictions through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
My career began at Lakeridge Health’s Pinewood Centre as a Senior Addiction Counsellor. I continue to work at Lakeridge Health to this day; presently as a clinician in an Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic. For 15 years I have also facilitated groups for a Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program for men (and sometimes women) who have been charged or convicted of domestic abuse. Additionally, I’ve been a part-time teacher at Durham College in two post-graduate certificate programs and have trained security in communication and de-escalation skills.
I establish strong connections with clients and draw from many therapeutic modalities to support self-awareness, progress, and change. I have worked with clients of all ages with a range of presenting concerns including addictions, first episode psychosis, trauma, relationship abuse, suicide ideation, self-harm, depression, and anxiety. I work from a strengths-based perspective supporting clients in building resiliency, making behavioural change, improving emotion regulation, developing post-traumatic growth, improving self-care, healing relationships, and ultimately improving quality of life. I often use humour when appropriate and beneficial to the therapeutic process.

Life is about balance. In the summer I enjoy spending time at the cottage; sometimes working at a concert venue on the lake. In the winter you’ll find me at the rink watching my son play hockey. Throughout the year I enjoy cooking, working out, and planning future travels!
